Today was a ski day for most of us – at least for some of the day. But it was cold so the younger one’s stayed home and got to have a little movie-time. Inevitably that also mean’s finger sucking time. Geesh this habit is hard to break!
Happy New Year!! Here I am, back at it again, for another 365 Project. Yeeha. Love it. Such a great way for me to be intentional about capturing our life.
So today we celebrated the beginning of a new year at Fort Steele with our good friends, who are visiting us from Calgary. I have a bazillion photo’s to choose from, and had no idea how I was going to choose just one. Eventually I settled on this. I love photo’s that show genuine joy and happiness, and I have noticed that I don’t have many pictures that show that. And I have gotten to wondering why? Our kids have a tonne of fun……they are just always moving and they never pause long enough for me to get the shot. So this year, I am hoping to get better at ‘joy’ shots. Not look at the camera and cheese, but genuine love and laughter. Wish me luck 🙂
Maybe Fort Steele is our New Years tradition?! We came here last year with my sis and her family, and since we had such a good time then, we decided to come back this year with our friends who are visiting from Calgary. It is a historical village. Both years there has hardly been anyone there!
The kids love looking at the animals – horses, pigs, turkeys, chickens, sheep…..
At Lambie House, one of the old family residence, they serve hot apple cider and cookies, fresh baked out of the wood-burning stove.
The bakery had cookie decorating. Of course the kids were right into that!
Poor wee girl. Life is hard in the winter for this age!!
Wagon ride!
This is Malakai’s ‘best friend’. They are pretty cute together!
Then a little skating/hockey action at the end, on the outdoor rink.
We bought food for a wiener roast on the fire to finish the day, but they kicked us out at 4 🙁
