This is one of those photo’s that speaks so loudly to me, but probably no one else.  It represents the kids so well.  It depicts innovation, creativity, resourcefulness, and pushing the boundaries. They had been nit picking at each other all morning so I told them they were going to go to their own quiet corner for a while to read.  They asked if they could pick spots outside.  Sure, I said.

They all got one of our outdoor quilts.  Sequoia got a piece of plywood to make a solid platform on top.  Neika grabbed the bogey boards.  Ashton was  on the quilt behind him, and Malakai had one in another corner, until he asked if he could climb up and join Sequoia.  They are always thinking, always inventing a new game and always, always creating a new mess!  Just the way childhood should be.

A few years ago, we were super blessed, to have thee most super nanny as part of our lives and family. We shared her with a few other families in our community, starting when Ashton was about 18 months old, and I was pregnant with Malakai.  She helped us so I could have some uninterpreted work time.  She / we moved on to other things when Malakai was just over a year old.

She is one of those rare gems in life.  She is amazing with the kids, and is a great friend to us all.  And she came and visited us this week!!20150816Debbie-75Everyone has grown since we last met – just a little! And she got to meet Chelise, who was having a birthday a couple days after Debbie left.20150816Debbie-84She is such a great gift-giver.20150816Debbie-9520150816Debbie-10820150816Debbie-91New beanies for the big girls.20150816Debbie-132Thanks Debbie, for coming so far to see us.  You are a special part of our lives 🙂

Our Nanny extraordinaire has been with us visiting for a few days.  What a treat to have her.  We took her for a ride up the chairlift and went for a little hike.  She is a skier so it was hard for her to visit in summer, rather than winter!227

Kent drinks out of the tap like this.  It’s not my favourite!  I catch the boys sneaking drinks like this after they have been put to bed, and tonight, it happened.  She has learned too!!223

We keep talking about taking the kids fishing.  We even bought a license last year, but never found the time to get out.  Kent put in the effort before we went to Murtle this year to gather some resources to try and make it happen.  We set out one day, on a day trip, and as we paddled we trolled (trawled?  I’m not fisherman!). and we actually caught quite a few fish.  Teeny ones, but fish none-the-less.  There was no size limit which was perfect.20150801MurtleLake-13520150801MurtleLake-14020150801MurtleLake-15420150802MurtleLake-1320150802MurtleLake-14We pulled into an island for lunch, cleaned them, and cooked them up!20150802MurtleLake-2620150802MurtleLake-3120150802MurtleLake-4220150802MurtleLake-61We didn’t head back to camp until late in the evening.  Happy me because the light is beautiful for pictures 🙂20150802MurtleLake-17620150802MurtleLake-188We caught a couple of little ones close to ‘our’ beach!20150802MurtleLake-213The dads and kids went out for a bunch more short trips, but didn’t catch any those times.  I’m glad that this year, we actually FISHED!!
