I guess I haven’t mentioned it because it happened last year.  But Kent has been off work for nearly 4 months with a back injury.  It hasn’t been easy. We have had many up’s and down’s.  We have tried to stay optimistic with our hope and trust rooted in God.

Today he left for Vancouver, to spend 6 weeks on a rehabilitation program to hopefully help him heal and get fitting fit.  We all took him to the airport. It is a bitter sweet time.  We are pleased that he is going because we need a change, we need some forward progress and for him to get better.  That’s the sweet part.  But being apart is hard.  And I’m not really sure HOW I will ever do a good job of these kids on my own…..

I miss green 🙁  About this time of year I seem to crave it. BUT this year, the snow is gone already.  It looks like the beginning of May around here, not February!! I wonder if we will get white again, or if it will just stay brown for a couple of months? Whatever the case, these trees have no snow and without if there are some tinges of green 🙂47

Our bikes don’t usually see the light of day until April.  They are locked tight in the shed. But it has been warm, week after week, and now we have very little snow left (even though it doesn’t look like it in this picture!).  Skiing is a non-event and the kids asked if they could get their bikes out and us all go for a bike ride.  So we did!  The trails are mostly clear, the open grassy area’s are clear, it was just this part in the tree’s where there was still snow.

I feel sad for Fernie business’ and the ski hill at this wacky winter, since they rely on snow for their livelihoods.  And I was sad for our family that we haven’t gotten to ski much.  But now I am over it, and I would be very happy if winter only lasted 3 months instead of 6!45

I have been wanting to photograph a ‘day in our life’ periodically.  I didn’t actually think about it for this day, but when I looked through the pictures afterwards it probably would have been a good one to do!  I didn’t take any of our normal stuff but I did takes lots of all the activities we did today.

I have mentioned a bunch of times how warm our winter is.  The kids wanted to go for a bike ride so we hauled the bikes out of the shed, and off we went.

It was pretty icy in the park. And in this spot, the water was sitting on top.  Good chance to have a slosh around20150214-4920150214-5820150214-6020150214-67

Poor Malakai, it was pretty slippery and he kept falling off!20150214-70

When we got home, we  cleared off our deck which was still covered in reno remnants.  The reward was a smoothie, on this balmy day.
